Income Tax Return Apostille and Attestation
MEA apostille and embassy attestation for income tax return (ITR) acknowledgements and related tax documents of individuals and businesses, for investor visas, business registrations, tenders and financial proof abroad.

Income tax return apostille: quick answer
Income tax return apostille is the stamp the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) puts on your Indian income tax return so that it is accepted in Hague Convention countries. Before the MEA stage, commercial documents must be authenticated by a recognised Chamber of Commerce; the MEA then fixes the apostille for a government fee of ₹50 per document.
Exporting to or doing business in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait or another country outside the Hague Convention? Then you need Income tax return attestation instead: Chamber of Commerce, MEA attestation and legalisation by that country’s embassy in New Delhi.
Need ITR apostille without travelling to Delhi? Courier the original to our New Delhi office; we manage the chamber, MEA and embassy stages and courier it back. A WhatsApp photo gets you a written quote first.
Why an income tax return needs apostille or attestation
An ITR acknowledgement shows that you or your business filed a tax return in India and the income declared for that year. Abroad it works as independent evidence of income and financial standing, which is why it is requested for investor and business visas, company registrations, tenders that test financial capacity, and some loans and property purchases.
When the receiving authority asks for a legalised ITR, the printed acknowledgement (and computation, if asked) is signed, notarised and taken through the attestation route, then apostilled by the MEA for Hague countries or attested by the MEA and the embassy for non-Hague countries.

Tenders abroad

Tips before sending your income tax return
- Ask how many years the authority wants; three years is common, but requirements vary.
- Make sure the name and PAN on the ITR match your passport or company documents.
- An individual’s ITR follows the personal-document route (notary and SDM in New Delhi, then the MEA); a company’s ITR goes through the Chamber of Commerce. We choose the right route for you.

FAQs: Income tax return apostille and attestation
How do I get a income tax return apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs?
The income tax return is notarised where required and then authenticated by a recognised Chamber of Commerce. After that the MEA checks the chamber’s attestation and fixes the apostille. Courier the original to us and we handle each stage.
What are the charges for Income tax return apostille?
The MEA charges a government fee of ₹50 per document for an apostille. The Chamber of Commerce charges its own fee, and our service charge depends on the document; we give the total in writing before you send anything. Embassy attestation is quoted per country.
Can an online ITR acknowledgement be apostilled?
Yes. The printed acknowledgement downloaded from the Income Tax portal, signed by the taxpayer, can be notarised and then apostilled or attested.
What documents are required for Income tax return attestation?
Usually the original income tax return, a company authorisation letter and a copy of the signatory’s passport or ID. For exporters, the buyer’s country and any instructions from the buyer or bank help us choose the right route.
What is the process for Income tax return attestation for the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait?
For these non-Hague countries the income tax return is attested by the Chamber of Commerce, then by the MEA, and finally legalised by the embassy of the destination country. For the UAE, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs adds a final stamp inside the UAE.
Do I need ITRs for several years legalised?
Often yes. Many authorities ask for the last two or three years; each year’s acknowledgement is a separate document.
How long does Income tax return apostille take?
It depends on the Chamber of Commerce, the MEA and, for attestation, the embassy. We confirm an expected completion date in your written quote and update you on WhatsApp at every stage.
Apostille or attestation: which one does my income tax return need?
The country decides. Apostille works for Hague members such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UK, France and Australia; attestation with embassy legalisation is needed for the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, China and other non-members.
Can a CA’s income certificate be legalised instead?
Some authorities accept a chartered accountant’s certificate of income. It is legalised through the same route; check which document the authority prefers.
