Quick answer

GMP certificate apostille: quick answer

GMP certificate apostille means getting your GMP certificate certified by the Ministry of External Affairs with an apostille sticker, so that Hague Convention countries accept it without any embassy stamp. The route is notarisation where needed, Chamber of Commerce attestation and then the MEA apostille; the MEA’s own fee is ₹50 per document.

Countries such as the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and China are not covered by the apostille for Indian documents, so for them you need GMP certificate attestation: MEA attestation after the Chamber of Commerce, followed by embassy legalisation.

Need Good standing certificate apostille without travelling to Delhi? Courier the original to our New Delhi office; we manage the chamber, MEA and embassy stages and courier it back. A WhatsApp photo gets you a written quote first.

Part 1 · Why you need it

Why GMP and good standing certificates need apostille or attestation

Pharmaceutical and medical-device companies exporting from India must show foreign regulators that their plant follows good manufacturing practice. That proof comes from Indian regulators: the State Drug Controller or CDSCO issues GMP or WHO-GMP certificates, Certificates of Pharmaceutical Product (COPP) and certificates confirming that a manufacturing licence is valid and in good standing.

Ministries of health and procurement agencies abroad usually want these certificates legalised before they register a product or accept a tender. In the Gulf, Africa and much of Asia that means MEA attestation and embassy legalisation; Hague countries accept the MEA apostille.

Tips before sending your GMP certificate

  • Check the validity date on the GMP certificate; most foreign regulators will not accept an expired one.

Part 7 · FAQs

FAQs: GMP certificate apostille and attestation

How do I get a GMP certificate apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs?

Three things happen: notarisation if the document needs it, Chamber of Commerce attestation and the MEA apostille. You only send us the original GMP certificate; we manage the rest and return it stamped.

What are the charges for GMP certificate apostille?

For GMP certificate apostille you pay the MEA fee of ₹50 per document, the chamber’s fee and our service charge; courier is extra. If you need embassy legalisation instead, we quote that embassy’s charges as well.

Can a WHO-GMP certificate be apostilled?

Yes. A WHO-GMP certificate issued by the Indian regulator can be apostilled for Hague countries or attested by the MEA and the embassy for others.

What documents are required for GMP certificate attestation?

Usually the original GMP certificate, a company authorisation letter and a copy of the signatory’s passport or ID. For exporters, the buyer’s country and any instructions from the buyer or bank help us choose the right route.

What is the process for GMP certificate attestation for the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait?

The UAE, Qatar and Kuwait do not accept the apostille, so the GMP certificate is attested in stages: the Chamber of Commerce, the MEA and finally the embassy of the country concerned. In the UAE, the foreign ministry adds one more stamp locally.

What is a good standing certificate for a manufacturer?

It is a letter or certificate from the regulator confirming that the company’s manufacturing licence is valid and that it is in good standing. Foreign regulators often ask for it with the GMP certificate.

How long does GMP certificate apostille take?

An apostille is quicker than embassy attestation because there is no embassy queue. The exact time depends on the chamber and MEA workload; your quote gives an expected date.

Apostille or attestation: which one does my GMP certificate need?

It depends on the country where the GMP certificate will be used. Hague Convention countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Germany, Italy, the UK and Australia, accept the MEA apostille. The UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and China need MEA attestation followed by embassy legalisation.

Do COPP and GMP certificates go in the same file?

They can. Each is a separate document with its own stamps, but processing them together keeps the registration set consistent.
