First, which one do you actually need?
It is decided by the destination country, not by the document.
Going to a Hague Apostille Convention country — such as the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, the USA, Saudi Arabia or Oman — you need an MEA apostille. One sticker, no embassy visit.
Going to a country outside the Convention — such as the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, China, Vietnam or Egypt — you need MEA attestation followed by that country’s embassy legalisation in New Delhi. Two stages, and the embassy charges its own fee.

If your employer or university abroad has specifically asked for HRD or Home Department attestation, tell us before you book — in many cases the SDM route we run is accepted instead, and we will say plainly when it is not.
Charges
For the documents people ask about most — police clearance certificate, marriage certificate, birth certificate and degree certificate apostille — our charge is ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 per document. Postal and courier charges are separate.
Embassy legalisation is quoted separately, because each embassy sets its own fee and revises it from time to time. Commercial documents are quoted per consignment for the same reason. Send the document list on WhatsApp and you will get the figure in writing before anything moves.
Common questions
Is apostille the same as attestation?
No. An apostille is a single sticker issued by MEA that Hague Convention countries accept on its own. Attestation is a chain of stamps that ends at the destination country’s embassy. The country you are sending the document to decides which one you need.
Do I have to come to Delhi?
No. MEA and all the embassies are in New Delhi, but we collect documents from any city in India and courier the completed set back to you.
Will the original document be damaged?
Stamps and stickers are placed on the back of the certificate or on an attached sheet, as the issuing authority requires. The front of your document stays as it is.
Can you attest a photocopy?
No. MEA and the embassies work on originals. A photocopy will be refused at the first stage.
How do I check the apostille is genuine?
Scan the QR code printed on the MEA apostille sticker. It verifies against the ministry’s own record, so you never have to take our word for it.
