Halal Certificate Apostille and Attestation
Chamber of Commerce, MEA and embassy attestation, or MEA apostille, for halal certificates issued in India, for meat, food, cosmetics and pharma exports to the Gulf, Malaysia, Indonesia and other markets.

Halal certificate apostille: quick answer
In short, Halal certificate apostille is the MEA’s apostille on your halal certificate, recognised in every Hague Convention country. As the MEA requires for commercial papers, the halal certificate is first attested by a Chamber of Commerce, and then the MEA apostilles it (₹50 government fee per document).
For the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and other non-Hague countries the apostille is not accepted. There you need Halal certificate attestation: Chamber of Commerce attestation, MEA attestation and then the embassy stamp.

Why a halal certificate needs apostille or attestation
Importers and authorities in Muslim-majority markets need assurance that food, meat and some cosmetic and pharmaceutical products meet halal requirements. In India, halal certificates are issued by certification bodies, and for meat exports the DGFT requires certification by bodies accredited under the Quality Council of India’s i-CAS Halal scheme.
Because a halal certificate comes from a private certification body, it needs to be legalised before many importing countries accept it. For the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and other non-Hague countries that means Chamber of Commerce and MEA attestation followed by embassy legalisation; for Hague countries such as Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain the MEA apostille is used.

- Certificate validity and product names should match the invoice and labels.
- For meat exports, keep your i-CAS Halal accreditation details ready; buyers often ask.

FAQs: Halal certificate apostille and attestation
How do I get a halal certificate apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs?
The halal certificate is notarised where required and then authenticated by a recognised Chamber of Commerce. After that the MEA checks the chamber’s attestation and fixes the apostille. Courier the original to us and we handle each stage.
What are the charges for Halal certificate apostille?
The cost has three parts: the MEA’s ₹50 government fee per document, the Chamber of Commerce fee and our service charge. Courier both ways is separate. You get one written quote covering all of it.
Who issues halal certificates in India?
Halal certificates are issued by certification bodies. For meat exports, the DGFT requires certification by a body accredited under the Quality Council of India’s i-CAS Halal scheme.
What documents are required for Halal certificate attestation?
Usually the original halal certificate, a company authorisation letter and a copy of the signatory’s passport or ID. For exporters, the buyer’s country and any instructions from the buyer or bank help us choose the right route.
What is the process for Halal certificate attestation for the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait?
The UAE, Qatar and Kuwait do not accept the apostille, so the halal certificate is attested in stages: the Chamber of Commerce, the MEA and finally the embassy of the country concerned. In the UAE, the foreign ministry adds one more stamp locally.
Does Saudi Arabia need an apostille or attestation on a halal certificate?
Saudi Arabia is a Hague member, so the MEA apostille is used where legalisation is required.
How long does Halal certificate apostille take?
It depends on the Chamber of Commerce, the MEA and, for attestation, the embassy. We confirm an expected completion date in your written quote and update you on WhatsApp at every stage.
Apostille or attestation: which one does my halal certificate need?
The country decides. Apostille works for Hague members such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UK, France and Australia; attestation with embassy legalisation is needed for the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, China and other non-members.
Can a halal certificate be legalised with the commercial invoice?
Yes. Exporters often legalise the halal certificate, invoice and certificate of origin together for the same shipment.
