Eritrea Embassy Attestation in India
Eritrea embassy attestation for Indian teachers, lecturers and other professionals, and for Eritrean students leaving India with their degrees. Eritrea is not an apostille country, so documents pass through notary, SDM and MEA attestation before the Embassy of Eritrea in New Delhi legalises them. We manage each step and courier the papers back.

What is Eritrea embassy attestation?
Eritrea embassy attestation confirms, step by step, that an Indian document is genuine so that it can be used in Eritrea. The MEA attests the document after notary and SDM checks, and the Embassy of Eritrea in New Delhi then legalises the MEA stamp. The embassy’s own FAQ says legalisation needs the original documents, copies and identification.
The MEA estimates that around 200 Indians live in Eritrea, mostly school teachers, college professors and skilled workers in Asmara, Keren and Adi Keyh. Their degree and experience certificates are the most common requests. Eritrean nationals who have studied in India under ITEC or ICCR programmes also legalise their certificates before returning home.
Eritrea needs embassy attestation, not an apostille
Eritrea does not appear in the HCCH status table for the Apostille Convention (our check: October 2026). An MEA apostille is therefore not the right document for Eritrea. The Indian document receives MEA attestation and is then legalised by the Embassy of Eritrea.

FAQs: Eritrea embassy attestation
Does Eritrea accept apostilled documents from India?
No. Eritrea has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention. Your document must be attested by the MEA and then legalised by the Embassy of the State of Eritrea in New Delhi before Eritrean offices will rely on it.
Where is the Embassy of Eritrea in Delhi?
The embassy’s website gives its address as 103A, Block C, Anand Niketan, New Delhi 110021, and says it also serves several other countries in the region. You do not need to visit; our staff take the MEA-attested documents there and collect them.
What is the fee for Eritrea embassy attestation?
Our charge for the MEA stage is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per personal or educational document, covering notary, SDM, the Rs 50 MEA fee and service. The Embassy of Eritrea charges its own legalisation fee, which is extra and confirmed in your written quote.
How much time should I allow?
Around 5 to 8 working days from the date your documents arrive at our Delhi office, depending on the embassy’s schedule. Add courier time both ways. If you have a joining date, tell us so we can say honestly whether it can be met.
I have a teaching job in Eritrea. What should I attest?
Teachers and lecturers are usually asked for their degree certificates and, in many cases, a teaching qualification and experience letters. Send us the employer’s list; we attest each document and return the set together so nothing is missed.
Can an Eritrean student attest an Indian degree for use at home?
Yes. Eritrean graduates of Indian universities can send the original degree, transcripts and a passport copy. We complete notary, SDM and MEA attestation and the embassy legalisation, then courier the set to their address in India.
Which language will Eritrean offices expect?
Eritrea has no single official language; Tigrinya, Arabic and English are used in government. Ask the receiving office whether your English documents need translating. If they do, INFINITYGRO can arrange Tigrinya or Arabic translations quoted by page.
Can business documents be legalised for Eritrea?
Yes. Invoices, certificates of origin and company papers are first attested by a recognised Chamber of Commerce, then by the MEA, and finally legalised by the Embassy of Eritrea. We confirm the chamber and embassy fees in a written quote.
