Niger Embassy Attestation in India
Niger embassy attestation for Indian degrees, marksheets, experience certificates, family documents and export papers. Niger has not joined the Apostille Convention, so the MEA attests your document and the Embassy of Niger in New Delhi legalises it. We take care of every stage from our Delhi office and return the papers by Blue Dart.

What is Niger embassy attestation?
Niger embassy attestation is the two-step legalisation an Indian document needs before it can be relied on in the Republic of Niger. Niger is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so an apostille has no effect there. The Ministry of External Affairs attests the document, and the Embassy of Niger in New Delhi then certifies the MEA signature.
Niger is often confused with its neighbour Nigeria, which has its own High Commission and its own requirements, so we always confirm which country your employer or buyer means. Our Niger files mostly involve Indian engineers and technicians on infrastructure, energy and mining projects, Nigerien students completing ITEC or university courses in India, and exporters of rice, medicines, vehicles and machinery to Niamey.
Niger needs embassy attestation, not an apostille
Niger is not listed as a contracting party in the HCCH Apostille Convention status table (checked October 2026). The Convention therefore does not apply between India and Niger, and an apostille is not accepted. The MEA attests the Indian document and the Embassy of Niger legalises that attestation.

Before you send documents for Niger
Send us
- Original documents, not laminated
- A copy of your passport
- Confirmation from your employer or buyer that the documents are for Niger (Niamey), not Nigeria
- Your return address and phone number
Watch out for
- Niger and Nigeria are different countries with different missions; a document legalised for one will not work in the other
- An MEA apostille is of no use in Niger; ask for MEA attestation and the embassy stamp
- Ask whether the Nigerien office wants a French translation and whether that translation should also be legalised
- Exporters: settle with the buyer in advance which shipping documents need the embassy stamp, as sending papers again later is slow
FAQs: Niger embassy attestation
Is an apostille enough for Niger?
No. Niger has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention, so Nigerien authorities do not recognise an apostille. Your Indian document needs MEA attestation and then legalisation by the Embassy of Niger in New Delhi. We look after both steps and return the finished document to you.
Niger or Nigeria: does it make a difference?
Yes, a big one. Niger and Nigeria are separate countries with separate missions in New Delhi, and a stamp from one has no value in the other. Check your offer letter or purchase order for the country name and the city, such as Niamey for Niger, before sending documents.
What are the Niger embassy attestation charges?
For the MEA stage we charge Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per personal or educational document, all-inclusive of notary, SDM, the Rs 50 MEA fee and service. The Embassy of Niger’s legalisation fee is extra and is confirmed in your written quote. Courier and any Chamber of Commerce fee are also extra.
How many days does Niger embassy attestation take?
About 5 to 8 working days once the originals are with us in Delhi. The notary, SDM and MEA stages are quick; the embassy’s processing takes the rest. Allow courier time on both sides. We give you an expected date in writing before we begin.
Do Nigerien offices need a French translation?
Often. French is widely used in Niger’s administration and courts, so a ministry, university or employer may ask for one. We can have the French translation prepared for you, charged per page. Ask the receiving office whether it wants the translation simply attached or legalised as well.
Which export documents can be legalised for Niger?
Commercial invoices, certificates of origin, packing lists, price lists and company registration documents. They are certified by a Chamber of Commerce, attested by the MEA and then legalised by the Embassy of Niger. We set out all three costs in a written quote.
I completed an ITEC course in India. Can the certificate be legalised for Niger?
In most cases, yes, if the certificate was issued by an Indian institution whose signature can be verified through the notary and SDM route. Send us a scan first. Once we confirm, courier the original with a passport copy and we complete MEA attestation and the embassy stamp.
Can someone in Delhi hand over the documents on my behalf?
Yes. A friend or relative can drop the originals at our New Ashok Nagar office with a copy of your passport and your contact number. Otherwise courier them from anywhere in India. We do not offer home pickup, and we return the legalised documents by secure courier.
