Turkmenistan Embassy Attestation in India
Turkmenistan embassy attestation for Indian degrees, marksheets, medical and nursing certificates, family records and export papers. Turkmenistan has not joined the Apostille Convention, so an apostille will not work there. We get the MEA attestation in Delhi, submit the document at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in West End, New Delhi, and courier it back.

What does Turkmenistan embassy attestation involve?
Turkmenistan embassy attestation means two stamps on your Indian document: first the Ministry of External Affairs attests it, then the Embassy of Turkmenistan in New Delhi legalises the MEA signature. Because Turkmenistan is outside the Hague Apostille Convention, ministries, universities and employers in Ashgabat expect this legalised route rather than an apostille sticker. Each stage confirms the signature of the one before it, so the order cannot be skipped.
We mostly see Turkmen nationals who studied in India and need their degree or diploma recognised at home, and Indian suppliers of medicines, textiles and machinery whose Turkmen buyers ask for legalised trade papers. Turkmen is the state language and Russian is still common in business, so a translation may be requested once the legalisation is complete.
Turkmenistan needs embassy attestation, not an apostille
The HCCH status table, last updated 30 June 2026, does not list Turkmenistan among the 130 contracting parties to the Apostille Convention. An MEA apostille therefore has no standing there, and Indian documents need MEA attestation followed by legalisation at the Turkmen Embassy.

FAQs: Turkmenistan embassy attestation
Is an apostille enough for documents going to Turkmenistan?
No. Turkmenistan is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so authorities there do not act on an apostille. The document needs MEA attestation and then legalisation by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in New Delhi, and we arrange both stages for you from our Delhi office.
What are the Turkmenistan embassy attestation charges?
For the MEA stage we charge Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per personal or educational document. That figure covers notary, SDM, the Rs 50 MEA fee and our service. The Turkmen Embassy’s legalisation fee is extra and is confirmed in your written quote, and courier is billed separately.
I studied in India and am going back to Turkmenistan. What should I send?
Send the original degree or diploma, all semester marksheets or the transcript, and a copy of your passport. If a ministry or employer in Turkmenistan gave you a list, include it, so that everything they expect is legalised in a single round instead of two.
How many days does the Turkmen Embassy stage add?
Our usual estimate for the full process is 5 to 8 working days after the originals reach Delhi, and the embassy accounts for much of that. Public holidays in India or Turkmenistan can push it out. We give you the expected date in writing before work starts.
Can certificates of origin and invoices be legalised for a buyer in Turkmenistan?
Yes. Trade documents are certified by a Chamber of Commerce, attested by the MEA and then legalised by the Turkmen Embassy. Because the chamber and embassy fees depend on the documents, we look at them first and send you a written quote.
Will my documents need a Turkmen or Russian translation?
Possibly. Turkmen is the state language and Russian is still used in many offices, so the receiving authority may ask for a translation once the legalisation is done. INFINITYGRO translates into both, priced per page; check which language the office wants first.
I live outside Delhi. How do I hand over the documents?
Courier the originals to our office in New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, or drop them off if you are in the city. We do not collect from homes. Finished documents travel back by Blue Dart or another secure courier to the address you give us.
Can a birth certificate issued in India be legalised for Turkmenistan?
Yes. An Indian birth certificate passes through notary, SDM, MEA attestation and the Turkmen Embassy in the same way as an educational document. The child’s and parents’ names should match their passports letter for letter before you send it.
