apostille
An apostille for South Korea is the MEA apostille on an Indian public document after it has been verified by the competent Indian authority – the state education department or university for degrees and transcripts, the home department or SDM for birth and marriage certificates. Korean universities, the immigration office and district (gu) offices accept it in place of consular confirmation by the Korean Embassy. Documents in English are often accepted; others need a Korean translation.
Korea embassy attestation is not needed – the apostille for South Korea is
Korean university checklists usually say “apostille or consular confirmation”. Because India is a member of the Apostille Convention, the option that applies to you is the apostille – Korean Embassy consular confirmation is meant for documents from countries outside the Convention.
Degrees and transcripts are where time is lost. Each must first be verified by the state that issued it (or the university, depending on the state), and transcripts are often several pages. Starting early on the apostille for South Korea keeps you inside the admission or visa deadline.

Korean translation and the apostille for South Korea
Most Indian degrees, transcripts and civil certificates are issued in English, and Korean universities and offices commonly accept English documents. When a document is in Hindi or another Indian language – or when the office asks for Korean – a Korean translation is attached after the apostille, and some offices want that translation notarised.
We translate from the apostilled original and keep names exactly as in your passport. See our Korean translation services.
