Commercial Documents Attestation from China Embassy: Preparing Your Papers
Most refusals of company papers for China start before any stamp is applied: an unsigned printout, a name that differs between documents, or loose pages. This guide is about preparing Indian commercial documents so they pass the Chamber of Commerce, the MEA and the Chinese Embassy, whether you are registering in China, signing with a Chinese partner or exporting.

Commercial documents attestation from China Embassy: quick answer
Commercial documents attestation from China Embassy work follows a fixed order. The MEA requires commercial documents to be pre-authenticated by a Chamber of Commerce, so the chamber attests your company’s signature first, the MEA attests the chamber, and the Chinese Embassy or a Consulate General legalises the MEA stamp. India objected to China’s accession to the Apostille Convention, so there is no apostille shortcut.
Chinese registration offices are clear about why this matters. Shanghai’s guidance says a foreign investor’s registration certificate must be notarised locally and verified by a Chinese embassy or consulate before use in China, and Shenzhen Qianhai says the same of investor identity or qualification documents. INFINITYGRO checks each paper, runs the chain and quotes in writing.

FAQs: Commercial Documents Attestation from China Embassy: Preparing Your Papers
Can commercial documents be apostilled for China?
No. China joined the Apostille Convention in 2023, but India objected to its accession, so it does not operate between India and China. Commercial papers need Chamber of Commerce attestation, MEA attestation and legalisation by a Chinese mission in India.
Why is the Chamber of Commerce needed?
The MEA’s attestation guidelines state that commercial documents are to be pre-authenticated by the respective Chambers of Commerce. The MEA then attests the chamber’s signature, and the Chinese mission legalises the MEA stamp.
Which Chinese offices ask for legalised company papers?
Company registration offices are the most common. Shanghai’s guidance requires a foreign investor’s registration certificate to be notarised and verified by a Chinese embassy or consulate, and Shenzhen Qianhai requires the same for investor identity or qualification documents.
Do you draft resolutions or powers of attorney?
No. INFINITYGRO does not draft or correct company documents. Your company or lawyer prepares and signs them. We check that they are in a form the chamber, the MEA and the Chinese mission are likely to accept, then handle the chain.
How much does commercial documents attestation from China Embassy cost?
Commercial documents are quoted in writing after we see them, because chamber requirements differ by document. The quote shows our charge, the Chinese Embassy fee and courier. Translation, if needed, is quoted by language and page.
How long does it take?
It depends on the chamber, the MEA and the Chinese mission’s workload, so we do not publish a fixed figure. Your written quote includes a time estimate. Add courier time to Delhi and back.
Do the documents need Chinese translation?
Many Chinese offices work only in Chinese. Ask your Chinese partner or registration agent whether a translation should be legalised from India or made in China. INFINITYGRO translates into Chinese if it is needed from India.
Are papers for Hong Kong handled the same way?
Hong Kong and Macao have their own rules, separate from mainland China. Tell us the exact city and the receiving office before you send anything, and we will confirm the route in writing. Our Hong Kong fee page covers papers going there.
