PCC Attestation for UAE: What Changed and Why MOFA Is Not Needed

PCC attestation for UAE is shorter than it used to be. A police clearance certificate going to the UAE now needs MEA attestation in India and online legalisation by the UAE Embassy, and nothing after that. The UAE MOFA stamp that older guides describe is no longer asked for on a PCC. Here is the current route and what to check first.

Quick answer

PCC attestation for UAE: quick answer

PCC attestation for UAE means getting an Indian police clearance certificate attested by the Ministry of External Affairs and then legalised online by the UAE Embassy. Unlike degrees or birth certificates, a PCC no longer goes on to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so an apostille on the PCC will not be accepted there.

A PCC signed by a passport officer goes straight to the MEA. A police station PCC first needs a notary and the SDM in Delhi. INFINITYGRO charges Rs 1,000–1,500 for the MEA stage, all-inclusive; the UAE Embassy fee is extra and shown in your written quote. We do not apply for PCCs; we start once yours is issued.

Part 1 · The rule change

Old route and current route, side by side

Many guides still describe a three-stamp chain for a PCC: MEA, then the UAE Embassy, then UAE MOFA after you land. That is out of date. The current practice for a PCC stops at the embassy stage.

What older guides say

  • MEA attestation in India
  • UAE Embassy attestation in India
  • UAE MOFA attestation in the UAE
  • Extra time and an extra fee

Current PCC route

  • MEA attestation in India
  • UAE Embassy legalisation, applied for online
  • No UAE MOFA stamp
  • One stage and one fee fewer
Other documents for the UAE, such as degrees, marriage and birth certificates, still need UAE MOFA attestation after the embassy. The shorter route applies to the PCC only.
Part 2 · Your PCC

Which PCC do you hold?

The issuer printed on the PCC decides whether it needs a notary and SDM before the MEA. Check it before you courier anything.

01

Passport Seva PCC

Issued by a Regional Passport Office and signed by a passport officer. It goes to the MEA directly, with no notary or SDM step.

02

Police station PCC

Issued by a local police station or district police office. A notary and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Delhi authenticate it before the MEA.

03

PCC from an Indian mission abroad

Signed by a consular officer. Send a photo first; we confirm the route and quote in writing.

INFINITYGRO does not apply for PCCs, book passport appointments or follow up police verification. We handle the attestation once the certificate is in your hands.

  6. 6
ReturnThe PCC comes back by Blue Dart or another secure courier, or you collect it.
Part 4 · Timing

Plan around the PCC’s age

The attestation itself does not expire, but UAE employers and visa centres usually want a recent PCC. If your PCC is several months old, ask the receiver whether it is still acceptable before paying for attestation. A fresh PCC means starting the attestation again.

Allow for courier time to Delhi and back on top of the processing time. If you are already in the UAE, a relative in India can hand the PCC in at our office and we can courier it abroad once it is done.

FAQs

FAQs: PCC Attestation for UAE: What Changed and Why MOFA Is Not Needed

Does a PCC for the UAE still need MOFA attestation?

No. Under current practice a police clearance certificate for the UAE needs MEA attestation in India and online legalisation by the UAE Embassy, and stops there. Degrees and civil certificates still go on to UAE MOFA, so do not apply the PCC rule to your other documents.

Can I apostille my PCC for Dubai instead?

No. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so an MEA apostille is not accepted there. A PCC for Dubai or any other emirate needs MEA attestation followed by UAE Embassy legalisation.

How much does PCC attestation for UAE cost?

The MEA stage is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per PCC, all-inclusive, with INFINITYGRO. The UAE Embassy legalisation fee is AED 150 on top of that, and there is no UAE MOFA fee for a PCC. Courier both ways is extra; your written quote shows every part.

How long does it take?

Usually 5 to 7 working days once the PCC reaches our Delhi office. A police station PCC can take a little longer because of the notary and SDM stage. Add courier time from your city and back.

Can you get the PCC from the passport office for me?

No. INFINITYGRO does not apply for PCCs, book Passport Seva appointments or handle police verification. Apply for the PCC yourself through the passport office or the police, and once it has been issued to you, send us a photo and then the original for attestation.

My police station PCC is in Hindi. Is that a problem?

It can still be attested, but the receiver in the UAE may ask for a translation. INFINITYGRO translates into English or Arabic. Ask your employer or visa centre what language they accept before we begin.

How will the UAE side check the attestation?

Embassy legalisation done through the UAE MOFA online system carries an attestation reference number and an issue date. Your employer or the visa centre can enter both on the MOFA verification portal at verify.mofa.gov.ae to confirm that the attestation is genuine.

I am already in the UAE. Can my PCC be attested in India?

Yes. A relative can drop the original PCC at our New Ashok Nagar office or courier it to us. We return it to an address in India or courier it to you in the UAE, as you prefer.
