Marriage Certificate Attestation for Qatar: How to Do It from India
If you work in Qatar and want your spouse to join you, the sponsorship file will ask you to prove the marriage with an Indian certificate that Qatar can rely on. That means MEA attestation and the Qatar Embassy stamp, not an apostille. This guide covers the route, which certificate to use and what remains to be done in Qatar.

Marriage certificate attestation for Qatar: quick answer
Marriage certificate attestation for Qatar is the legalisation of an Indian marriage certificate for use by Qatari authorities, most often for a spouse’s residence sponsorship. Qatar is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so the certificate is notarised, attested by the SDM in Delhi, attested by the MEA and legalised by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in New Delhi.
INFINITYGRO handles these four Indian stages for Rs 1,000–1,500 per certificate, all-inclusive; the Qatar Embassy fee is extra and confirmed in your written quote. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs then adds its own attestation, either through the sponsor in Qatar or through MOFA’s online service for documents issued abroad.
When Qatar asks for an attested marriage certificate
Spouse sponsorship
A resident in Qatar sponsoring a husband or wife proves the marriage with the attested certificate.
Children’s papers
After a child is born in Qatar, the parents’ marriage may need to be shown for the child’s records.
Employer records
Some employers ask for it to add a spouse to medical cover or housing benefits.
Ask the sponsor or employer for the exact checklist. If it also lists children’s birth certificates, send them in the same courier; they follow the same route.

MOFA Qatar and Arabic translation
Attested in Qatar
The sponsor takes the embassy-attested certificate to MOFA Qatar’s consular attestation office.
MOFA online service
Since December 2024, MOFA Qatar’s website has offered an online attestation service for documents issued abroad.
Many Qatari offices also want an Arabic translation. Ask whether one made in India is accepted. If it is, INFINITYGRO translates the certificate into Arabic and returns both together.

Qatar embassy attestation feesFAQs: Marriage Certificate Attestation for Qatar: How to Do It from India
Can an apostilled marriage certificate be used in Qatar?
No. Qatar is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so the apostille is not accepted. The certificate needs MEA attestation and then legalisation by the Embassy of the State of Qatar in New Delhi, followed by MOFA Qatar.
How much does marriage certificate attestation for Qatar cost?
Our MEA stage is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per certificate, including notary, SDM, MEA and our service. The Qatar Embassy fee is extra and shown in your written quote. Courier both ways and any translation are separate.
Do both spouses need to come to Delhi?
No. Courier the original certificate and both passport copies to our New Ashok Nagar office. Delhi residents can drop off and collect in person. We handle every Indian stage without either of you visiting an office.
The wife’s name changed after marriage. Is that a problem?
It is common. The certificate shows the maiden name while the passport may show the married name. Send both passports so the link is clear. If the Qatari office wants more, ask whether a name affidavit is acceptable.
Can a certificate registered in another state be attested in Delhi?
Usually yes. Our route uses the notary and SDM in Delhi before the MEA. If your checklist from Qatar specifically names State Home Department attestation, tell us first, because that stage is done by the state department, not by us.
Who does the MOFA Qatar attestation?
The sponsor in Qatar, or the applicant through MOFA Qatar’s online service for documents issued abroad. INFINITYGRO’s work ends with the Qatar Embassy stamp in New Delhi and the courier back to you.
Can the children’s birth certificates go in the same batch?
Yes. Birth certificates for Qatar follow the same notary, SDM, MEA and Qatar Embassy route as the marriage certificate. Each certificate is charged as a separate document, and one written quote covers the whole family set.
Can you register our marriage or fix an error?
No. INFINITYGRO does not register marriages, issue certificates or correct entries in them. The registrar’s office has to do that. Once you have the correct certificate in hand, we take it through every attestation stage.
