MOFA Qatar authentication and university recognition
After the Qatar Embassy stamp, the certificate is authenticated by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. MOFA Qatar handles academic certificates issued abroad through its Consular Affairs department and its e-services portal, and asks for the transcript with a bachelor’s degree.
In December 2024 MOFA Qatar also launched an online service for attestation abroad: the application is made on its website and the documents are authenticated by a Qatari mission, with the host country’s foreign ministry where needed. For Indian degrees that still means the Indian stamps come first. For educational certificates, Qatar requires the university to be on the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s list of recognised universities.
Mistakes that delay degree certificate attestation from Qatar Embassy
- Degree without transcript: MOFA Qatar wants the transcript with a bachelor’s degree. Attest both together to avoid a second courier.
- Apostille instead of attestation: Qatar is not in the Hague Convention, so an apostilled degree still needs the attestation route.
- Laminated originals: stickers cannot be fixed. Get a duplicate from the university first.
- Name mismatch: if the degree and passport spellings differ, tell us before sending; an affidavit may be needed.
