TC Certificate Apostille and Attestation
Apostille and embassy attestation for transfer certificates (TC) from schools and colleges in India, for school admission, college admission and visas abroad.

TC certificate apostille: quick answer
TC certificate apostille is the stamp the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) puts on your Indian transfer certificate (TC) so that it is accepted in Hague Convention countries. On our route the transfer certificate (TC) is notarised in New Delhi, verified by the SDM office and then apostilled by the MEA, which charges a government fee of ₹50 per document.
For the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and other non-Hague countries the apostille is not accepted. There you need TC certificate attestation: notary, SDM, MEA attestation and then the embassy stamp.

Why a TC certificate is apostilled or attested
A transfer certificate (TC) is issued when a student leaves a school or college. Schools abroad use it to place a child in the right grade, and some colleges and universities abroad ask for the college TC to confirm that you completed your studies and left in good standing. In South India especially, colleges issue a TC with the degree, and it is often requested along with it.
For schools and colleges in the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait, the TC needs MEA attestation and embassy legalisation. For Hague Convention countries, an MEA apostille on the TC is enough. Our separate page on the school leaving certificate covers younger children’s school records in more detail.

Tips before sending your transfer certificate (TC)
- A TC on letterhead with the principal’s signature and seal is legalised more smoothly than a printed form without a seal.
- For a child’s school admission in the UAE, start early; after the embassy stage the UAE ministry stamp is also needed in the UAE.
- If the TC was issued in a regional language, ask the school for an English version or plan a translation.

FAQs: TC certificate apostille and attestation
How do I get my transfer certificate (TC) apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs?
There are three steps: notary attestation in New Delhi, SDM verification of the notary, and the MEA apostille. You do not need to visit Delhi; courier the transfer certificate (TC) to our office and we handle each stage and return it by courier.
What are the charges for TC certificate apostille?
The MEA charges a government fee of ₹50 per document for an apostille. Our service charge for TC certificate apostille is usually ₹1,000–₹1,500 per document, and courier is extra. Embassy attestation for the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and other countries costs more and is quoted per country. You always get a written quote first.
Is a TC the same as a school leaving certificate?
They serve the same purpose. Some schools call it a transfer certificate, others a school leaving certificate. The apostille or attestation route is the same. Colleges also issue TCs, which are legalised the same way.
What documents are required for TC certificate attestation?
For TC certificate attestation we need the original transfer certificate (TC), your passport copy (front and back pages) and a signed authorisation letter. Please also say where and why you will use it.
What is the process for TC certificate attestation for the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait?
The UAE, Qatar and Kuwait do not accept the apostille, so the transfer certificate (TC) is attested in four stages: a New Delhi notary, the SDM, the MEA and finally the embassy of the country concerned. In the UAE, the foreign ministry adds one more stamp locally.
Does a college TC need attestation for a master’s admission in the UAE?
If the university asks for it, yes: MEA attestation and UAE embassy legalisation, followed by the UAE ministry stamp in the UAE.
How long does TC certificate apostille take?
The time depends on the queues at the SDM office, the MEA and, for attestation, the embassy. We confirm an expected completion date in your written quote and update you on WhatsApp at every stage. Embassy attestation takes longer than an apostille.
Apostille or attestation: which one does my transfer certificate (TC) need?
It depends on the country where you will use the transfer certificate (TC). Hague Convention countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Germany, Italy, the UK and Australia, accept the MEA apostille. Non-Hague countries, such as the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and China, need MEA attestation followed by embassy legalisation.
Can a TC certificate be apostilled without the student present?
Yes. A parent or the student sends the original by courier with passport copies; nobody needs to visit Delhi.
