Medical Certificate Attestation for China in Easy Steps

A university, employer or office in China has asked for your Indian medical or fitness certificate. Before you legalise it, check whether they will accept an Indian report at all, because many health checks for work permits are done in China. If they will, the certificate needs notary, SDM and MEA attestation, then the Chinese Embassy stamp.

Medical certificate attestation for China: quick answer

Medical certificate attestation for China is needed only when a Chinese office has agreed to rely on a health report issued in India. For work permits, Shanghai’s guidance expects a physical examination certificate from China’s inspection and quarantine authority, while Nanjing also accepts a check-up from an overseas institution recognised by that authority, issued within six months. So ask first.

If an Indian certificate is accepted, it is a private document signed by a doctor or hospital. It is notarised and attested by the SDM in Delhi, attested by the MEA, then legalised by the Chinese Embassy or a Consulate General. There is no apostille for China. Our MEA stage is Rs 1,000–1,500 per document; the Chinese Embassy fee is extra and confirmed in your written quote.

Part 1 · Ask before you attest

Will China accept an Indian medical certificate?

Often done in China

Work permit health checks. The Shanghai and Nanjing guidance asks for a written health commitment before entry and a medical check through China’s inspection and quarantine system after arrival.

Sometimes from India

Some universities, training programmes and other offices ask for a fitness certificate before you travel. Nanjing accepts reports from overseas institutions that the quarantine authority recognises.

Get the requirement in writing, including the form the office wants filled and whether the hospital must be on an approved list. Legalising a certificate the Chinese side will not use wastes time and money.
Part 2 · The certificate

What the medical certificate should show

  • Hospital or clinic letterhead with full address
  • Doctor’s name, signature, registration number and seal
  • Your full name, date of birth and passport number
  • Date of examination and the results or a fitness statement
  • Any form the Chinese office supplied, filled in completely

Keep within the validity the Chinese office gives. Nanjing counts six months back from the date the application is accepted, and the attestation stages use part of that time.

FAQs

FAQs: Medical Certificate Attestation for China in Easy Steps

Do I need medical certificate attestation for China for a work permit?

Often not. Shanghai and Nanjing guidance has applicants give a health commitment before entry and complete the check in China. Nanjing also accepts recognised overseas reports issued within six months. Ask your employer before legalising an Indian report.

Can a private clinic’s certificate be attested?

It can be attested in India if it is on letterhead with the doctor’s signature, registration number and seal. Whether the Chinese office accepts a private clinic is its decision, so check its list of recognised institutions first.

Why does a medical certificate need notary and SDM?

A medical certificate is a private document. The MEA attests the signature of a state authority, so a notary first attests a true copy and the SDM authenticates the notary. Only then can the MEA and the Chinese mission add their stamps.

How old can the medical certificate be?

Nanjing’s work permit FAQ says health certificates should be issued within six months before the application is accepted. Other offices set their own limits. Start attestation soon after the examination so the certificate is still valid when it reaches China.

Can I apostille the certificate instead?

No. India objected to China’s accession to the Apostille Convention, so the apostille is not used between them. Indian documents for China need MEA attestation and then legalisation by the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi or a Chinese Consulate General, depending on the district.

What does it cost?

Our MEA stage is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document, covering notary, SDM, the MEA fee and service. The Chinese Embassy fee is extra and is confirmed in your written quote. Courier both ways is separate.

Can you book my medical test?

No. INFINITYGRO does not book tests, issue certificates or check whether a hospital is recognised by Chinese authorities. We handle the attestation and legalisation of the certificate you already hold, and tell you before you send it if anything on it is likely to be refused.

Do I have to visit your office?

No. Courier the original from any city to our New Ashok Nagar office. There is no home pickup. Delhi clients may drop it off and collect it. We return it by Blue Dart or another secure courier.
