Kuwait’s government portal lists, for the family residence visa, a copy of the family member’s passport valid for at least two years, the sponsor’s Civil ID, salary proof and proof of kinship. It also states that the sponsor’s salary must not be less than KWD 450, except for certain exempt professions.
For an Indian family, the kinship papers are the marriage certificate for a wife and the birth certificate for each child. Ask the sponsor or the employer’s PRO which of them the file needs attested, and send all of those together.

Check names across the set before you send it
A family file is read as a group. A spelling that differs between the marriage certificate, a child’s birth certificate and the passports is the most common reason a Kuwaiti office sends papers back.
- Wife’s name: the certificate shows her maiden name, the passport may show her married name. Send both passports.
- Child’s birth certificate issued without the child’s name: get the name added by the registrar first.
- Father’s or mother’s name spelt differently from the passports: ask the registrar for a corrected copy.
- Birth certificate from a hospital only: the municipal or registrar’s certificate is the one to attest.

Which documents need Kuwait family visa marriage certificate attestation?
For a wife, the marriage certificate. For each child, the birth certificate. Kuwait’s portal calls these proof of kinship. Some sponsors are also asked for their own degree. Follow the checklist the sponsor receives, and send everything on it in one batch.
Can the marriage and birth certificates go together?
