Papua New Guinea Embassy Attestation in India
Papua New Guinea embassy attestation for Indian teachers, doctors, accountants and exporters. PNG is outside the Apostille Convention, so Indian degrees, experience letters, civil certificates and trade documents are attested by the MEA and then legalised by the Papua New Guinea High Commission in New Delhi. We run the full chain from Delhi and courier the set back.

What does PNG embassy attestation involve?
Papua New Guinea embassy attestation is the legalisation that lets employers, universities and government offices in Port Moresby or Lae accept an Indian document. Since PNG has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention, the apostille sticker is not used. Instead the Ministry of External Affairs attests the document and the PNG High Commission in New Delhi, open since 2006, legalises that attestation.
Many Indians living in PNG work as chartered accountants, university lecturers, school teachers and doctors, and these professions need degrees and experience letters legalised for work permits and registration. Indian exporters of textiles, machinery, food and medicines also send us invoices and certificates of origin, which go through a Chamber of Commerce before the MEA and the High Commission.
Papua New Guinea needs embassy attestation, not an apostille
Papua New Guinea does not appear in the HCCH Apostille Convention status table (checked October 2026), so the Convention does not apply between PNG and India. An apostilled Indian document is not the correct form there. MEA attestation followed by the PNG High Commission’s legalisation is required.

FAQs: Papua New Guinea embassy attestation
Is an apostille enough for Papua New Guinea?
No. Papua New Guinea is not a member of the Apostille Convention, so the MEA apostille is not accepted there. Indian documents need MEA attestation and then legalisation by the Papua New Guinea High Commission in New Delhi.
What does Papua New Guinea embassy attestation cost?
Our MEA stage charge is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per personal or educational document, all-inclusive. The PNG High Commission charges its own fee, which is extra and stated in your written quote. Chamber of Commerce fees apply to commercial papers, and courier is separate.
How long does PNG attestation usually take?
Usually 5 to 8 working days once your originals reach our Delhi office, depending on how quickly the High Commission processes the file. Add courier time to and from Delhi. We tell you the expected date before starting.
I am a chartered accountant joining a firm in Port Moresby. What should I attest?
Typically the B.Com or other degree, the ICAI membership or qualification certificate if your employer asks for it, and experience letters from previous firms. Send us the employer’s checklist first so nothing is missed and the originals travel only once.
Where is the Papua New Guinea High Commission in India?
PNG has had a resident High Commission in New Delhi since 2006. You do not need to go there yourself; we submit the MEA-attested documents at the High Commission, collect them after legalisation and return them to you.
Can birth and marriage certificates be attested for PNG?
Yes. Civil certificates go through notary and SDM in Delhi, then MEA attestation and the PNG High Commission. Families moving with a working spouse usually need both the marriage certificate and the children’s birth certificates.
Is translation into Tok Pisin needed?
Rarely. English is one of PNG’s official languages and is used in most government and business paperwork, so English documents are normally fine. If an office asks for a Tok Pisin or English translation of a regional-language certificate, we can arrange it.
How do I send my documents to you?
Courier the originals to our office at New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, or drop them off yourself between Monday and Saturday. We do not offer home pickup. Finished documents go back by Blue Dart or another secure courier, or you can collect them.
