apostille
An apostille for Philippines is the MEA apostille on an Indian public document after verification by the competent Indian authority – the state education department or board for marksheets and degrees, the home department or SDM for birth and marriage certificates, a chamber of commerce for company papers. Since 14 May 2019 Philippine universities, the Bureau of Immigration and local civil registries accept it instead of red-ribbon legalisation by the Philippine Embassy.
Philippines embassy attestation is not needed – the apostille for Philippines is
Many students and parents still hear about “red ribbon” or Philippine Embassy legalisation. That process was replaced when the Philippines joined the Apostille Convention in May 2019 – today the MEA apostille is the final Indian step, and the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi does not legalise Indian public documents.
For MD/MBBS aspirants the work is mostly academic: 10th and 12th marksheets and certificates, the birth certificate and often a police clearance. School-board documents are verified by the state education department (or the board, depending on the state) before the MEA apostille. Starting early keeps you clear of the intake deadline.
