Iran Embassy Attestation Fees 2026: Degrees, Family Records and Trade Papers for Tehran
Iran Embassy Attestation is the final seal that lets an Indian certificate be used in Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan or Chabahar. Port staff, Iranian graduates of Indian universities and rice exporters all end at one desk on Barakhamba Road.
Short answer: Iran is not a Hague Apostille Convention member, so an MEA apostille is refused. Every Indian paper, academic, personal or commercial, is first verified in India (state HRD, Home Department/SDM or a Chamber of Commerce), then attested by MEA, and finally attested by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, New Delhi. A Persian translation usually follows in Iran.

How does Iran Embassy Attestation work, and why no apostille?
Iran never joined the 1961 Convention, so Iranian ministries rely on a signature chain: an Indian authority vouches for the certificate, MEA vouches for that authority, and Iran's diplomats vouch for MEA. The embassy's consular page says documents must first be stamped and signed by MEA in New Delhi.
Plain definition: Iran Embassy Attestation is the stamp and signature of the Iranian consular officer confirming that the MEA seal on an Indian document is genuine. Without it, offices in Iran treat the paper as unverified.
Two embassy rules matter: no cash at the counter (the fee is paid into its bank account and the receipt filed with the papers), and originals are handed in personally or through a representative, which is our role.
Who asks for Iran-attested certificates?
Professionals posted to Iran
Engineers at the Shahid Beheshti terminal in Chabahar, run by India Ports Global, and project technicians need a work visa: the attested degree proves the qualification, the PCC a clean record, experience letters the grade.
Spouses and children
The marriage certificate supports the spouse's residence permit; birth certificates support children's residence and schooling.
Iranian graduates of Indian universities
Many Iranians study in Pune, Mysuru, Bengaluru and Hyderabad; their degrees need MEA and embassy stamps before evaluation at home.
Students, pilgrims and spouses of Iranian citizens
Students bound for seminaries in Qom or Mashhad, and Indians marrying Iranians, attest school certificates, single status papers or birth records.

- Certificate of Origin and commercial invoice
- Phytosanitary and health certificates for rice, tea and food cargo
- COPP, GMP and Free Sale Certificate for drug registration
- Product dossiers and letters of authorisation for an Iranian distributor
- Certificate of incorporation, MOA, AOA and board resolution

Your Iran file: checklist, Persian translation and pitfalls
- Originals in good condition, not laminated, torn or faded
- Passport copy whose spelling matches every certificate
- Signed authority letter so we can submit and collect at the embassy
- For exporters: letterhead, company seal, signatory ID and the buyer's checklist
Persian (Farsi) is Iran's official language; offices there generally want an official translation made in Iran after the embassy stage, so every stamp is covered.
Errors that cost time
- Taking an apostille, which the Iranian Embassy will not accept
- Skipping state HRD and sending the degree straight to MEA
- Damaged or corroded documents, which the embassy says it cannot verify

Iran attestation FAQs
Is an apostille accepted in Iran?
No. Iran has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention, so the MEA apostille is not recognised there. Indian documents need MEA attestation followed by attestation at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi.
What is the Iran Embassy Attestation process for a degree?
The degree is notarised, verified by the state HRD department, attested by MEA in New Delhi and then sealed by the Iranian Embassy. Transcripts and marksheets follow the same path when the Iranian side requests them.
What are the Iran embassy attestation fees?
With us, a Passport Seva PCC costs ₹1,000 to ₹1,500, a birth certificate starts at ₹1,500 and a marriage certificate runs ₹1,500 to ₹2,500, each with the embassy charge added into one quote. Degrees and trade papers are priced individually.
Can I pay the Iranian Embassy fee in cash?
No. The embassy says it does not accept cash; the fee is deposited into its bank account and the receipt goes in with the documents. When we handle your file, we make this payment and include it in the quote.
How long does Iran attestation take?
Plan on roughly 7 to 12 working days for a passport-office PCC, 10 to 15 for birth or marriage certificates and 15 to 25 for degrees. State verification queues drive most of the variation, so these are estimates.
Is marriage certificate attestation for Iran needed for my wife's visa?
Usually yes. The attested marriage certificate is the standard proof of relationship for a spouse's residence permit in Iran. It goes through a notary, SDM or Home Department, MEA and the Iranian Embassy.
I am an Iranian who studied in India. How do I get my degree attested?
The university degree and transcripts are verified by the state where the university is located, attested by MEA and then by the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi. Start before you leave India, since the originals must be presented here.
Do I need a Persian translation?
In most cases, yes. Offices in Iran work in Persian and usually ask for an official translation of the attested document. Have it done after the embassy stamp so all seals and endorsements appear in the translation.
Which commercial documents need Iran Embassy attestation?
Exporters commonly attest certificates of origin, commercial invoices, phytosanitary and health certificates, and COPP, GMP and Free Sale Certificates for medicines. Company documents such as board resolutions and powers of attorney are also attested for Iranian distributors.
