UAE embassy attestation: quick answer
UAE embassy attestation is how an Indian document becomes valid in the UAE. Because the UAE has not joined the Hague Apostille Convention, an apostille does not work: the document is verified in India, attested by the MEA, attested by the UAE Embassy in New Delhi or the UAE Consulate in Mumbai, and then attested by UAE MOFA, which is now done online.
For most degrees and personal certificates the first stage is a notary and the SDM in Delhi; state HRD verification is needed only if your UAE checklist asks for it. Company papers go to a Chamber of Commerce first. A PCC issued through Passport Seva goes straight to the MEA and, under the latest update, no longer needs UAE MOFA. Choose your document below for its exact route.

6 mistakes that delay UAE embassy attestation
Name mismatch
A name spelt differently on the certificate and the passport is the most common reason for a query at MEA or the embassy.
Apostille instead of attestation
An apostilled document is not accepted in the UAE; it still needs MEA attestation and the UAE Embassy stamp.
Doing HRD when it isn’t needed
State HRD is not mandatory for the UAE and adds weeks. Do it only if your UAE checklist asks for it.
Laminated documents
Stamps cannot be fixed on a laminated certificate; keep the original unlaminated.
No Arabic translation
Some UAE offices want a legal Arabic translation; ask before you travel.
Skipping MOFA
For degrees and personal certificates the UAE Embassy stamp is not the end; UAE MOFA attestation is still needed (now online).

FAQs: UAE embassy attestation
What is UAE embassy attestation?
UAE embassy attestation is the legalisation of an Indian document so that offices in the UAE accept it. The document is verified in India, attested by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), stamped by the UAE Embassy in New Delhi or the UAE Consulate in Mumbai, and finally attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), now online.
Is an apostille accepted in the UAE?
No. The UAE is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, so an MEA apostille is not accepted there. Indian documents need MEA attestation followed by UAE Embassy attestation and MOFA attestation.
What is the process for UAE embassy attestation from India?
For most documents: notary and SDM in Delhi (or a Chamber of Commerce for company papers), then MEA attestation, then the UAE Embassy, then UAE MOFA online. State HRD is needed for a degree only if your UAE checklist asks for it.
Which documents need UAE embassy attestation?
Degree and diploma certificates, mark sheets, experience letters, marriage and birth certificates, police clearance certificates, and company documents such as invoices, certificates of origin, agreements and powers of attorney.
How much does UAE embassy attestation cost?
The cost depends on the document and the stages it needs. Our UAE Embassy attestation fees page lists the current charges, and we confirm the total for your documents in writing before starting.
How long does UAE embassy attestation take?
The Delhi route (notary, SDM, MEA, UAE Embassy, MOFA) usually takes 5 to 7 days. The state HRD route takes longer. We give the expected date with the quote.
Is UAE MOFA attestation done in India?
UAE MOFA attestation is now done online, so it no longer needs a visit in the UAE. We complete it as part of the process, and you can verify it on the UAE MOFA website with the reference number. A PCC no longer needs MOFA under the latest update.
Do you collect documents from home?
No. If you are in Delhi you can drop off and collect your documents at our New Ashok Nagar office. From other cities, send the originals by a reputed courier with tracking; we return them by Blue Dart or another secure courier.
Do Indian documents need an Arabic translation in the UAE?
Some UAE authorities and courts ask for a legal translation into Arabic, usually for marriage, birth or court documents. Ask the office that needs the document; we can arrange the translation.
Can you attest a PCC for the UAE?
Yes, if you already hold the PCC. We attest the police clearance certificate for UAE use; we do not apply for or issue the PCC itself.
