PCC apostille in Assam: quick answer

What matters for a PCC from Assam
- A Passport Seva PCC from Assam names RPO Guwahati as the issuing office. Check that it carries the officer’s signature and seal, and that nothing on it has been laminated or written over.
- Police station certificates in Assam may be typed partly in Assamese, or in Bengali in Barak Valley districts such as Cachar and Karimganj. Most destination countries then want a translation, which we can add after the apostille.
- Surnames from Assam are spelt in several ways, for example Baruah, Barua or Borua. Your PCC must use exactly the spelling and name order printed in your passport, or the employer may question it.
- If your destination is the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait, an apostille will not help: these countries need PCC attestation by the MEA and then their embassy. Tell us the country before you send the certificate.

FAQs: PCC apostille in Assam
I live in Dibrugarh. Must I travel to Delhi for the apostille?
No. Post the original PCC and a copy of your passport to our Delhi office by tracked courier. We take it to the MEA, collect the apostille and send it back by Blue Dart or another secure courier, so the whole process works from Dibrugarh or any other town in Assam.
How much does it cost to apostille a PCC from Assam?
A Passport Seva PCC costs Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 in total, which covers the Rs 50 MEA fee, the bank draft and our service. A police station or SP office certificate is a fixed Rs 1,500 because of the extra notary and SDM step. Courier charges both ways are separate.
My PCC was issued by RPO Guwahati. How many days will the apostille need?
Usually 2 to 3 working days at the MEA once the certificate is in our hands, because a passport office PCC needs no state step. Courier between Assam and Delhi takes about three to five days each way, so allow for that on both sides.
Can a character certificate from a police station in Nagaon be apostilled?
Yes. A certificate signed by a police station or the SP office in Nagaon, or in any other Assam district, is first notarised and attested by the SDM in Delhi. We arrange both steps and then file it for the MEA apostille. It takes about 5 to 7 working days for a fixed Rs 1,500.
Can INFINITYGRO get me a PCC in Guwahati?

My police certificate is in Assamese. Do I need a translation?
The MEA will apostille the certificate in the language it is written in. Many embassies and employers abroad then ask for a translation into English or their own language. INFINITYGRO translates into any language and can attach the translation after the apostille.
Is PCC attestation for Qatar the same as a PCC apostille in Assam?
No. Qatar, the UAE and Kuwait are not apostille countries, so a PCC for them needs MEA attestation and then embassy legalisation. For the UAE that means MEA attestation and online UAE Embassy legalisation only. Tell us the country first so the right service is used.
I have already left Assam for work. Can my parents send the PCC?
