Apostille for Bangladesh

Since 30 March 2025, the apostille for Bangladesh is the only authentication Indian documents need: board or state verification for school certificates, home department or SDM verification for civil certificates, chamber attestation for company papers, and then the MEA apostille. Bangladeshi medical colleges, ministries and courts accept it.

Until March 2025, Indian students and businesses had to get documents attested by the MEA and then by the Bangladesh High Commission. With Bangladesh’s accession to the Apostille Convention, that second step has gone; the MEA apostille is now complete.
Some colleges and agents may still mention High Commission attestation out of habit. If they do, show them that Bangladesh is now a Convention member – the apostille for Bangladesh is what they should accept.
