The apostille for Indonesia is the MEA apostille on an Indian document that has been verified at source – the state education department or university for degrees, the home department or SDM for civil certificates, a chamber of commerce for company documents. Since June 2022, Indonesian immigration, the Ministry of Law, notaries and civil registries accept it without Indonesian Embassy legalisation, usually with a sworn Bahasa Indonesia translation.
Indonesia embassy attestation is no longer needed – the apostille for Indonesia replaced it
Before June 2022, Indian documents for Indonesia went through MEA attestation and then legalisation at the Indonesian Embassy. Indonesia’s accession to the Apostille Convention removed the embassy step, so older advice about “Indonesia embassy attestation” is out of date.
For company set-up, Indonesian notaries usually want the Indian parent company’s incorporation certificate, board resolution and power of attorney apostilled and then translated by a sworn translator (penerjemah tersumpah).
