PCC apostille in Gangtok: quick answer
PCC apostille in Gangtok is the MEA apostille on a Police Clearance Certificate held by a Gangtok resident, needed when a Hague Convention country such as the UK, Japan or New Zealand asks for your police record. We take care of the apostille in Delhi, so the original PCC is couriered down from Sikkim and returned the same way.
Gangtok, like the rest of Sikkim, falls under the Regional Passport Office in Kolkata, which has a Passport Seva centre in the city. A Passport Seva PCC goes straight to the MEA: 2–3 working days, Rs 1,000–1,500 all-inclusive. A police station or SP office certificate needs notary and SDM attestation in Delhi first, which we arrange: Rs 1,500 fixed, about 5–7 working days.
Gangtok PCC: the Kolkata passport office, PSLK Gangtok and Sikkim Police
A PCC held by someone living in Gangtok is normally signed by one of the following:
| Passport office PCC | Regional Passport Office Kolkata, which covers all districts of Sikkim, including Gangtok, along with West Bengal and Tripura |
|---|---|
| Passport Seva Kendras / POPSKs | Passport Seva Laghu Kendra, Manan Kendra, Development Area, Gangtok |
| Police station / district police certificate | Your local police station or district SP office – a signed and sealed police clearance or character certificate |
| Living abroad | Gangtok residents already living abroad can get a PCC from the Indian Embassy or Consulate there; it goes straight to the MEA. |
What matters for a PCC from Gangtok
- Even though the Passport Seva centre is in Gangtok, the PCC is issued in the name of RPO Kolkata. That is normal; check the seal, the signature and your passport number, and do not laminate the certificate.
- If any part of your Gangtok police certificate is in Nepali or another language used in Sikkim, the destination country may want it translated. INFINITYGRO translates into any language and can add it after the apostille.
- Surnames such as Chettri and Chhetri are written both ways on school and ID records. The spelling on your PCC must follow your passport exactly, or the embassy may ask for a corrected certificate.
- Gangtok is a hill town, and courier movement can slow down in the monsoon or when the highway is blocked. Send the PCC early so it is still within the validity period the embassy expects.
- If you are moving abroad with your spouse, the embassy may also want your marriage certificate apostilled. Send it with the PCC and we process both in one round.

FAQs: PCC apostille in Gangtok
Do I have to leave Gangtok to get my PCC apostilled?
No. Courier the original PCC and a copy of your passport from Gangtok to our Delhi office. We arrange the MEA apostille and return the certificate by Blue Dart or another secure courier. Nobody from your family needs to travel to Delhi.
What is the fee for a PCC apostille in Gangtok?
Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 all-inclusive for a Passport Seva PCC, which covers the Rs 50 MEA fee, the bank draft and our service. A police station or SP office certificate is Rs 1,500 fixed because of the notary and SDM step. Courier is extra.
My PCC shows RPO Kolkata although I live in Sikkim. Does that matter?
No. Sikkim comes under RPO Kolkata, so this is normal. A passport office PCC goes straight to the MEA and is usually apostilled in 2 to 3 working days after reaching us, plus three to five courier days each way.
Can a certificate from a police station in East Sikkim be apostilled?
Yes. A certificate signed by a police station in Gangtok or elsewhere in East Sikkim, or by the district SP office, is first notarised and attested by the SDM in Delhi. We arrange both and then submit it for the MEA apostille. It takes about 5 to 7 working days and costs Rs 1,500 fixed.
Can you apply for a PCC on my behalf in Gangtok?
No. INFINITYGRO does not apply for, issue or speed up a PCC or police verification. The passport office or the police issue it. We only apostille or attest a PCC that you already hold, whether it came from the passport office or from Sikkim Police.
Part of my police certificate is in Nepali. Is that a problem?
Not for the apostille: the MEA apostilles the certificate as it is. The country receiving it may want a translation of the Nepali text into English or its own language. INFINITYGRO translates into any language and returns the translation with your PCC.
I have a job offer in Dubai. Should I apostille my Gangtok PCC?
No. The UAE does not accept an apostille. A PCC for Dubai needs MEA attestation followed by online UAE Embassy legalisation; UAE MOFA is no longer required. Qatar and Kuwait also need MEA attestation and their own embassy legalisation, so tell us the country first.
Can my parents in Gangtok post my PCC while I am overseas?
Yes. They can courier the original PCC with a copy of your passport. We send the apostilled certificate back to them in Gangtok or straight to you abroad. Share their phone number so the courier can reach them on the hill roads.
