Vietnam Embassy Degree Attestation: Checklist for a Work Permit in Vietnam
Got a job offer in Vietnam? The employer will need your degree, proof of experience and a few other papers, each legalised. Since 11 September 2026 that means an MEA apostille rather than a Vietnam Embassy stamp. This guide lists what to prepare, what Vietnam’s work permit rules ask for and what we handle in Delhi.

Vietnam degree papers: quick answer
Vietnam embassy degree attestation is what most people search for when a Vietnamese employer asks for a legalised degree. The embassy step has gone: since 11 September 2026, the Embassy of Vietnam in India no longer legalises Indian public documents covered by the Apostille Convention. The MEA apostille now does the job.
For a work permit, Vietnam’s Decree 219/2025/ND-CP asks experts for a university degree or higher plus the employer’s written confirmation of relevant experience, usually at least two years. Foreign documents must be legalised unless a treaty exempts them, and translated into Vietnamese with a certified translation. INFINITYGRO apostilles each Indian document for Rs 1,000–1,500 all-inclusive, usually in 2–3 working days in Delhi.
What Vietnam’s work permit rules ask for
Vietnam’s rules on foreign workers are set by Decree 219/2025/ND-CP of 7 August 2025. Most Indian professionals apply as experts. The points that affect your papers:
| Qualification for an expert | University degree or higher |
|---|---|
| Experience | At least 2 years in a relevant role; 1 year in some priority fields such as science, technology and digital transformation |
| Proof of experience | Written confirmation from your employer of your years of experience |
| Foreign documents | Must be consularly legalised unless a treaty exempts them; the apostille is that exemption |
| Translation | Legalised documents must be translated into Vietnamese and the translation certified |
| Criminal record | Issued by a foreign or Vietnamese authority no more than 6 months before filing |
Your document checklist for a Vietnam job
Indian papers we apostille
- Degree certificate (final, not provisional, where possible)
- Experience letter on your employer’s letterhead
- Police clearance certificate, if your employer wants an Indian one
- Marksheets or transcript, if asked for
- Marriage or birth certificates for family members, if they are joining you
Keep ready alongside
- Passport with enough validity
- Passport-size photographs to your employer’s specification
- Health certificate, as your employer directs
- Your signed job offer or contract
- Scans of every page before you courier originals
Why there is no Vietnam Embassy stamp any more
Vietnam acceded to the Apostille Convention on 31 December 2025, and it came into force for Vietnam on 11 September 2026. The Vietnam Embassy’s notice in New Delhi says that from that date it stopped accepting consular legalisation of Indian public documents within the Convention, and directs applicants to the MEA. Degrees already legalised by the embassy before that date remain valid.
So Vietnam embassy degree attestation now means, in practice, notary, SDM and MEA apostille in Delhi. For a stage-by-stage walk through that route, read our degree certificate process guide for Vietnam.
Problems that delay degree papers for Vietnam
Name mismatch
Your degree, experience letter and passport must show the same name. Initials on one and a full name on another lead to questions in Vietnam.
Experience not proven
An experience letter without dates, designation or a signature may not satisfy the work permit office, even if apostilled.
Old criminal record
A police certificate older than 6 months at filing is not accepted, so time it close to the application.
Vietnamese translation of your papers
Once apostilled, the documents need a Vietnamese translation, and the translation must be certified. Ask your employer whether they will have it done and certified in Vietnam or want a translation sent with the papers. INFINITYGRO can translate into Vietnamese, quoted by page.
Settle this before ordering a translation, so you do not pay for it twice.
Vietnam embassy degree attestation: fees and time
| MEA apostille, personal or educational document | Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per document, all-inclusive: notary, SDM attestation, the Rs 50 MEA fee and our service |
|---|---|
| Usual time | 2–3 working days in Delhi after the document reaches us |
| Courier | Extra, both ways |
| Translation | Quoted by language and page |
Each document on the checklist is priced separately at Rs 1,000–1,500 all-inclusive. There is no Vietnam Embassy fee on the apostille route.
FAQs: Vietnam Embassy Degree Attestation: Checklist for a Work Permit in Vietnam
Is Vietnam embassy degree attestation still required for a work permit?
Not the embassy stamp. Since 11 September 2026 the Vietnam Embassy in India no longer legalises Indian public documents covered by the Apostille Convention. Your degree needs an MEA apostille, which Vietnam accepts in place of consular legalisation.
What documents does a Vietnam work permit usually need from India?
Usually your degree, your employer’s written confirmation of experience, a criminal record certificate no older than 6 months, passport details, photographs and a health certificate. Indian documents need the MEA apostille and a certified Vietnamese translation. Your employer’s checklist decides the final list.
How many years of experience do I need?
Under Decree 219/2025/ND-CP, an expert usually needs a university degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience. Some priority fields, such as science, technology and digital transformation, need 1 year. Your employer confirms which category your role falls under.
Does my experience letter need an apostille too?
Yes, if it is an Indian document going into the work permit file. Vietnam requires foreign documents to be legalised unless a treaty exempts them, and for India that now means the MEA apostille. It costs the same as the degree, per document.
Can you get my police clearance certificate?
No. INFINITYGRO does not apply for PCCs or police verification. If your employer wants an Indian PCC, obtain it from Passport Seva and we apostille it. Some applicants who have lived in Vietnam can get a Vietnamese criminal record instead.
How much does it cost for the whole set?
Each Indian document is Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 all-inclusive, covering notary, SDM, the Rs 50 MEA fee and our service. So a degree and an experience letter together cost twice that. Courier is extra; translation is quoted by page.
How quickly can the whole set be ready?
Usually 2 to 3 working days in Delhi once the documents reach us, whether you send one or several together. Add courier time from your city and back. Start early if your employer has a filing date.
Do I need to come to Delhi?
No. Courier the originals to our New Ashok Nagar office, or drop them off in person if you are in Delhi. We return them by Blue Dart or another secure courier. We do not offer home pickup.
